Hey friends! It’s Back-To-School time and the teacher in me is totally going crazy right now. There are so many cute DIY projects popping up on my Pinterest feed and I can’t help but secretly pin them for whenever I go back to the classroom.
I loved using Duck Tape in my classroom to personalize our school supplies and/or make them more durable. What’s best about Duck Tape is often times, you don’t need any additional supplies to create something amazing. Today, I am partnering with The Duck Brand to share an easy DIY School Supply Organizer. You can make this organizer as a gift for your child’s teacher or in your own classroom.
I am also hosting a Duck Tape giveaway to complement this post. Follow the Rafflecopter at the end of this post to enter. =]
To make this School Supply Organizer you will need…
- 15″ Wooden CD Organizer (Michaels)
- Four 1 pint Mason Jars
- Duck Brand Chalkboard Tape
- Wood Stain (I used Minwax- Special Walnut)
- School Supplies
DIY School Supply Organizer
First, stain your CD organizer. I also have used this CD organizer in a piece that I keep on my mantle. You can check out all of the details on how I stain this baby, here.
When the stain has dried, cut a piece of cardboard to fit into the CD organizer. This will prevent the mason jars from slipping into the bottom opening.
Next, cut four 3.5 inch strips of Duck Brand Chalkboard tape to put on your mason jars.
When you adhere the tape to the jars, place the jars into the CD organizer to make sure the chalkboard tape can be seen through the hole in the front of the wooden crate.
Write the supply name on each jar. As you can see, my handwriting looks similar to that of a 1st grader. If you have a jar with some embellishments, you may run into the same issue. I think the sloppy handwriting gives it a cute “school-like” effect.
Fill your jars with the school supplies of your choice.
I put these cute little Duck Brand Washi Tape flags on the top of the pencils to give an added flair. It also helps prevent students from accidentally (or not) taking the pencils. =]
This school supply organizer is cute as is, however, you may add a bow for a little extra pizzazz. You know I’m all about my burlap so I stuck a burlap bow on the side. Check out this tutorial help you make the perfect (burlap) bow.
