Hey friends! I can’t believe it is already November! Seriously, where has the year gone?! I kind of skipped fall decorating this year as we were super busy with Olivia’s 2nd birthday party and my sister-in-laws baby shower. When we got home from Pennsylvania all I wanted to do is find my bed and lie in it for a few days (or weeks).
Rustic Glam Christmas Mantel
Since I skipped decorating for fall I jumped right into our Christmas decorating earlier this month. Michael’s cousin, Samantha, came to keep me company during my trip to Big Lots and didn’t judge me for my love for everything burlap or sparkly. They have everything you need to create the perfect Rustic Glam Christmas Mantel!
I love Big Lots’ holiday selection. They have everything from large scale outdoor decorations to little trinkets to help you create the perfect holiday tablescape. The best part is that I was able to fill my cart while staying under budget– even though I will be going back for some outdoor decor in a few days. =]
When I got home, I began decorating our mantel with two pieces of garland. I first tied the garland together with some jute twine. After I created one long piece, I then wrapped the garland in lights and ribbon. I love this burlap ribbon because it feature a gorgeous gold trim that is noticeable from a distance.
Christmas Mantel Decorating Tips
I hung the garland on the mantel with some Command Brand hooks. I just placed the hooks near the corners of the mantel and let them sit for about an hour. I like to give them some time to really set on there before applying weight. I used more jute twine to tie around my garland and create a loop to make it easier to hook onto the Command hooks.
I filled this hurricane vase with some “bowl fillers” I also found at Big Lots. I added in a few pinecones to make sure I was able fill the vase to the top.
I made the pallet reindeer sign and will provide a tutorial at the end of the week. In front of the sign, I put a set of remote-operated flameless candles and more pinecones between each candle.
On the right side of the mantel, I added a super cute glittery tree and a lantern that also has a flameless candle inside.
For ambiance, I also put up the Christmas tree. I am not going to show the full picture of the tree today, as I am not finished decorating. However, I did purchase some of these awesome glitter deer head ornaments from Big Lots and put them on the tree with some other decorations I already had on hand.
I’m super happy with how it all came together! The girls love when the lights come on and I can turn off the overhead lights around the house. It’s the perfect spot to get cozy after PJs.
You can find all of the items I mentioned at Big Lots as well as other styles of Christmas Decor! Be sure to check the end caps for extras! If you need any help finding an item, ask an associate. Everyone at my store was very sweet and ready to assist me when needed.
