Hey guys! As you may know we are new homeowners. We had our home built in a new development and I was able to choose many options for the interior and exterior. Against my better judgement, I chose darker hardwood floors throughout most of the downstairs of our home. I LOVE the look of dark hardwood; however my little ones are very hard on it. I want to share with you how we keep our dark hardwood floors clean.
I sweep the kitchen/ breakfast area and give the living room and hallways a good wipe down with a dust mop, daily. Because I track a lot of sawdust in from the garage, I try to remove my shoes when I come into the house. We have two little ones who like to drop little crumbs and other random material from arts and crafts on the floor. I wish I had a great solution for this kind of mess (besides an automatic vacuum). My girls like to use our handheld rechargeable vacuum to cleanup after small (dry) spills.
Beyond a light daily cleaning, I use Bona free & simple® along with my microfiber dust mop when the floor needs a deeper clean. I love that it is hypoallergenic and free of scents and dyes. I feel comfortable using it around my little ones as it is water based and gentle. It also gives my hardwood an effective clean when needed.
If you have little ones and hardwood floors, Bona free & simple is a great option to keep your floors looking like new. It is gentle enough to use everyday (and I personally use it most days) if needed. A couple months ago I shared my cleaning routine and I will attach the free printables to the bottom of this post as well. These printables are great to attach to a cleaning caddy or tape inside a cabinet for easy access.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Let me know how you keep your hardwood floors clean! If you want to find out more about the buzz behind Bona, you can check out their Facebook page, here.
